Need a Reliable Source of Control DNA?

480 Individual Control DNA Samples Available For Immediate Use

Introduction
The DNA in the panels has been extracted from lymphoblastoid cell lines derived by EBV transformation of peripheral blood lymphocytes from single donor blood samples. The donors are ethnically matched as UK Caucasian and characterised by gender and age at venesection. Informed consent has been obtained for their use in research. A series of 5 panels (HRC-1 to 5) are NOW available, each comprised of 96 individuals and all are sourced from cell lines matching the above criteria.

The MRC Geneservice (now known as Geneservice) have had excellent results with the first panel, HRC-1 (96 array), as part of their SNP analysis programme using the TaqMan assay. The panels provide an ideal control population for the quality control of routine assays in addition to numerous uses in genetic research. DNA from this resource has already been used by other investigators such as:

Key Features
  • Standardisation
- No problem of batch-to-batch variation as the DNA is manufactured from immortalised cell lines held as cryopreserved banks
  • Authentication - batch-to-batch consistency is confirmed using STR PCR at the MRC HGMP UK Resource Centre, Cambridge, U.K
  • High Purity and High Molecular Weight - Rigorous quality control procedures are followed to ensure that each batch meets the highest standard
  • Reproducibility- The use of EBV-immortalised lymphoblastoid cell lines ensures an infinite supply of the standardised DNA that represents the genome of the original blood donor
  • Individuality - Each DNA panel contains 96 individual samples, each representing a different donor subject
  • Consent - All donors have given written, informed consent for their blood to be used for research purposes
  • Immediately Available from Stock- Ideal for most standard genetic research applications and avoids error in preparing controls
  • Cost Effective -the 10m g format provides enough purified HRC DNA for thousands of PCR assays
  • Delivery Format & Quantity
ECACC HRC DNA panels (HRC 1-5) are available immediately from stock. All five DNA panels (HRC 1-5) are presented in the standard tube format of 96 x 10mg or 96 x 50mg amounts at a concentration of 0.2mg per m l. A convenient 96 well array format is also available for two of the panels (HRC-1 and HRC-2). The arrays are sealed with foil which is pierceable by metal tips or easily removed. A replacement foil is included should you need to store the array for future use. The HRC 96 well array panels are supplied at a concentration ready for immediate use in PCR reactions without dilution.

    Application

    • Polymorphism analysis
    • Reference Standards
    • Standards for diagnostic kits
    • Population studies
    • Investigating genetic diseases
    • Gender studies
    • Genomic DNA library construction
    • Southern Blotting
    • PCR
    • Profiling studies in gene expression
      And Much More!

Do you need a larger Control Population ?
ECACC has realised that larger numbers of individual genomic DNA samples are often required, sometimes in the thousands. To satisfy such needs, ECACC can supply DNA extracted from lymphocytes that are recovered from the filters used to remove the white cells from donated blood (Patent Pending). Using this novel approach ECACC is able to provide large numbers of purified DNA samples. Because the purified DNA originates from a finite source, all orders will be satisfied on a contract basis.
