Many of ECACC's clients receive cell lines from external sources, such as University research laboratories, where tests for mycoplasma, bacteria and fungi may not have been performed. Introduction of these cell lines requires dedicated quarantine facilites which can be prohibitively expensive to maintain when such a facility is used infrequently. ECACC can help in such situations and offers a quarantine cell banking service which includes: - Establishing the cell line in culture.
- Initial testing for mycoplasma by indirect DNA Stain or PCR.
- Establishing a token cell bank of 5 to 20 ampoules.
- Full QC testing for mycoplasma, bacteria and fungi.
- Optional authentication testing of DNA Profiling or isoenzyme analysis.
- Providing a certificate of analysis.
- Storage in ECACC's 24 hour alarmed and monitored cell storage facility either temporarily or as part of our safe storage service.
Use of ECACC's Quarantine Service can be conveniently extended into the manufacture of a Master Cell Bank, in the future.
