BICR Cell Lines - Head & Squamous Carcinoma Cell Lines

Introduction

A series of head and neck squamous carcinoma cell lines have been deposited with ECACC by Dr. Kenneth Parkinson at the Cancer Research Campaign Beatson Laboratories, Glasgow. The six BICR cell lines listed below are now available to order. Additional BICR cell lines are in the process of being banked and will emerge in the ECACC catalogue in the coming months. The BICR 16 tongue squamous carcinoma cell line is the latest addition. These BICR cell lines represent a valuable resource to study the mechanisms underlying carcinogenesis and aid the development of anti-cancer agents.

BICR 6 - Hypopharynx squamous carcinoma
Catalogue no. 05070501

An adherent keratinocyte cell line derived from a squamous cell carcinoma of the hypopharynx of a Caucasian male. The presence of keratin and involucrin markers has been confirmed. Known mutations exist in p53, p16 and p14ARF. These cells are tumourigenic in athymic mice. Expression of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) has been detected.

BICR 10 - Buccal mucosa squamous carcinoma
Catalogue no. 04072103

An adherent keratinocyte cell line derived from a recurrent squamous cell carcinoma of the buccal mucosa of a Caucasian female. The presence of keratin and involucrin markers has been confirmed. Known mutations exist in p53, p16 and p14ARF. These cells are tumourigenic in athymic mice.

BICR 16 - Tongue squamous cell carcinoma
Catalogue no. 06031001
An adherent cell line derived from a recurrent squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue of a Caucasian male. Keratin and involucrin markers present. Known mutations: p53, p16 and p14ARF. Cells are tumourigenic in athymic mice.

BICR 22 - Tongue squamous carcinoma (lymph node metastasis)
Catalogue no. 04072106
An adherent keratinocyte cell line derived from a lymph node metastasis squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue of a Caucasian male. The presence of keratin and involucrin markers has been confirmed. Known mutations exist in p53, p16 and p14ARF. These cells are tumourigenic in athymic mice.

BICR 31 - Tongue squamous carcinoma
Catalogue no. 04072107

An adherent keratinocyte cell line derived from a squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue of a Caucasian male. The presence of keratin and involucrin markers has been confirmed. Known mutations exist in p53, p16 and p14ARF. These cells are tumourigenic in athymic mice.

BICR 78 - Oral alveolus squamous carcinoma
Catalogue no. 04072111

An adherent keratinocyte cell line derived from a squamous cell carcinoma of the oral alveolus of a Caucasian male. The presence of keratin and involucrin markers has been confirmed. Known mutations exist in p53, p16 and p14ARF. These cells are not tumourigenic in athymic mice.
