Cell Culture Training Courses

Cell Culture Training Courses - Level I and II

Outline

The European Collection of Cell Cultures (ECACC) has been offering training courses to those from industry, academia and government institutes for over seven years.

We offer a Level I course designed to introduce candidates to cell culture and a Level II course which focuses on more specialist areas such as planning and management of a cell culture laboratory, primary cell culture, baculovirus and large scale cell culture.

Both courses are held on site at the Health Protection Agency, Porton Down, in Wiltshire.

Audience

To benefit most from these courses, candidates who attend the Level I course should have little or no prior cell culture experience. The course is aimed at those wanting to learn basic techniques before commencing work in a cell culture environment or as a refresher.

To attend the Level II course you will ideally already have experience in general cell culture techniques e.g. working aseptically, resuscitating, subculturing and cryopreserving cells. The course is ideal for those wanting comprehensive instruction in fundamental areas of current significance with lectures from guest speakers who are specialists in their subject.

Format

The Level I course is three days long and the Level II four days and largely consist of lectures in the morning followed up by practicals or demonstrations in the ECACC laboratories in the afternoon.

Delegates will receive comprehensive training manuals.  This valuable resource contains abstracts and lecture notes along with guidelines for relevant laboratory procedures.

Details

The Level I and Level II courses are held twice a year in the Spring and Autumn.  Accommodation is booked on your behalf at a hotel in Salisbury although this is not included in the course fee.

The fee includes transport between the Health Protection Agency, Porton Down, and there will also be at least one social evening which gives delegates the opportunity to interact with staff members teaching on the course.
