Customer Service Policy

At ECACC we make every effort to ensure your cultures arrive in a satisfactory condition and we take great pride in the service we offer to the scientific community.

ECACC policy is one of continuous quality control to ensure cultures reach you in the best possible condition. Consequently, all cell cultures from ECACC have been extensively checked for microbial contamination and are fully authenticated. Cell culture is a complex procedure requiring specific growth conditions and practical expertise. As a consequence ECACC offers Technical Support to answer any questions you may have about the growth of your cells.

Customers receiving cultures that are not entirely satisfactory are eligible to receive a replacement in accordance with the following criteria.

ECACC cannot accept liability for quality problems which are:

  • Reported following passage of the cells in the customer's laboratory.
  • Reported if ECACC recommendations for media and sub-culture have not been adhered to.
  • Reported more than 30 days following the date of shipment.

ECACC reserves the right to refuse replacement should a reassessment of the quality & authentication of the batch of the cell line in question conclude that it fully complies with the rigorous quality control standards set by ECACC.

Please Note - Frozen cells will normally be replaced by growing cultures (to eliminate resuscitation difficulties). Replacement cultures may be provided at no charge, but customers will be charged the shipping costs and a flask fee if ECACC cannot substantiate the claim.

Suggestions: We recommend that a stock of the cell line(s) should be frozen as soon as possible after receipt at approximately 2 x 106 cells/ml to prevent loss of cells. Also, we recommend that you maintain a back-up flask until you have made a token freeze.
